Description
Westmalle’s dark, red-brown Trappist beer, the Dubbel (7%), features a rich and complex flavour thanks to secondary fermentation in the bottle. The Dubbel is characterised by notes of caramel, malt and fruity esters reminiscent of ripe banana. The first taste of Westmalle Dubbel is a creamy thick head of foam. When finished, the beer leaves lacework traces behind in the glass, but the most memorable part of this balanced Trappist beer with soft mouthfeel is undoubtedly the long, dry finish.
The name ‘Dubbel’ refers to a doubling of the ingredients of the light, original Trappist beer that the monks brewed for themselves.
