You may have noticed that we quite like whiskey here at the Beer Emporium! Certain managers here, not to mention any names, just can’t resist buying in new whiskeys for the back bar and our selection of Scotch and Japanese whiskeys seems to grow every week!

One favourite of ours is the Lagavulin 16.

The Lagavulin Distillery is believed to be one of the oldest distillery sites in Scotland. It is located on the rocky coast of Islay. Lagavulin receives the slowest distillation of any Islay malt, and is aged for 16 years in oak casks before being bottled.

On the nose it is intensely peat – smokey, pungent with sweet spices, sherry and vanilla. What is promised on the nose is delivered with the flavour and full mouth-feel: rich and thick, with sweet fruits, sherry and of course, peat. It has a beautiful lingering finish, full of spices, stone fruit and vanilla.

Rich and complex – a big peaty whiskey. The perfect way to round off an evening of beer!
