We played host to some of the finest produce Bristol has to offer: Beer and Pie! We had All- Bristol beers on the taps and Pieminister pies in the kitchen. It was great to see some of the brewers pop down for a few drinks too. There are too many to mention now but here are a few favourites from the evening:
New Bristol Brewery’s new Wheat Beer, Who wit Clive, was a great hit with both staunch wheat beer drinkers and those who dabble occasionally – light, crisp and fruity – delicious!
Arbor’s New Zealand pale on keg was fantastic: big and malty with citrusy and tropical hops.
Our stout line was host to Ma Beese’s Chocolate Stout by Towles Brewery. It’s big at 6.9%, but smooth and creamy, with bittersweet chocolate flavours.
Bristol Beer Factory’s take on a Belgian Saison was available on keg – and it’s great – the Saison yeast gives great fruit and wheat flavours.
On cask, we had Winter Rye, an old favourite from Wiper and True, spicy and peppery, with a big malt backbone, to go along with The Summer on Keg, their grapefruit-y pale ale.
Dawkin’s Forester’s black (4.8%) on cask was a rich, full and flavourful smoked milk stout. The Old Barn by Twisted Oak was a lovely malty amber bitter.
And what better to accompany a great local beer, then with a lovely local pie. Pieminister’s The moo and Blue made a great match for the chocolate stout and the New Bristol IPA. And the Chicken of Aragon went fantastically with the BBF Saison.
All in all, it was a lovely event, with fantastic people and brilliant local produce! Go Bristol!!
